Frogston Primary School have a wonderful on-site kitchen, led by Stacey and her team. They work hard to create delicious, nutritionally balanced meals, soups and salad options for our pupils.

Delicious, Nutritious and Sustainable

• All our school meals are carefully crafted by the City of Edinburgh Council, ensuring they meet Scottish Government nutrition standards with balanced, seasonal ingredients. Meals include at least two portions of fruit or veg, and are sourced locally whenever possible, supporting both quality and sustainability.

• Edinburgh schools hold the Food for Life Bronze Award, reflecting commitment to healthy, low‑additive meals with minimal food miles.

From Monday to Thursday, pupils have access to a salad bar, where they can help themselves to fresh fruit and vegetables.

• Parents order meals in advance using ParentPay, our secure online system. This enables weekly meal selection and convenient payment. Free P1–P5 meals are credited daily but still need to be ordered to ensure accurate ordering and provision.

Free Meals for P1–P5

All children in Primary 1 to Primary 5 are eligible for free school meals during term time— there are no income conditions or restrictions for this.

Even though meals are free, booking via ParentPay is essential to guarantee the correct meal is prepared for your child.  If a meal has not been ordered for your child and they do not have a packed lunch with them, they will be provided with a baked potato and topping of the day.
