Safe Journeys to School
We, like all schools, prioritise the health and safety of our pupils. We want all of our children and families to be able to get to and from school safely. We work actively with our community police, parking attendants and active travel charities to promote and encourage safe, active travels to school.
You can find detailed information pertaining to parking restrictions and recommendations here.
Please do not park on yellow lines or in the school car park at any time. We have 2 blue badge spaces in our staff car park for blue badge holders.
To help you and your children stay safe around school we recommend:
Complying with all road safety and parking rules. Note that electric scooters are not legal on public roads in Scotland.
Be bright, and be seen. Dress yourself and children in clothes which will be easily seen by drivers.
Ensure that children wear helmets and protective clothing if scooting or cycling.
Travel to school actively as often as possible. The fewer cars at drop-offs and pick-ups, the better!
Park and Stride
Park and stride is an initiative we encourage at Frogston Primary School for all families who must use a car. It is a simple but effective and very healthy concept. Simply park slightly further away from school, and walk, scoot or cycle the rest of the way. You will get quality time with your child, promote good physical and mental health and dramatically reduce the risks of accident or injury which congestion around the school gates can cause.
There are a number of local businesses who have kindly agreed to the use of their car parks for parking and striding. These are:
Toby Carvery
Mortonhall Garden Centre (overflow carpark)
Gracemount Leisure Centre
Valley Park Community Centre (the car park opposite, next to ValU)
You can also see roads around the school without parking restrictions on the attached map and parking guide, here. More information about school commute safety is attached below.
